mostly common causes of breast pain are harmless. A minority of females experience breast pain at or around menstrual cycle but its highly variable as some of these females experience pain or tenderness near or at ovulation time.

answer to your query is very simple . Breast tissue as well as nipple area is extremely sensitive . Vigrous rub / friction can cause extreme pain also it varies with individual to individual how much pain one experience. its just local trauma/friction or rub leading to it and nothing to worry about.

Its same as testicles are a tender spot for trauma/friction so are breasts.
