Honey Moon Cystitis- Urinary Bladder Infection After First Intercourse
HoneyMoon Cystitis(Urinary bladder Infection/inflammation) Females are as such(even normally) more liable/prone to get urinary infection after puberty as in females 1)The urethra(urinary opening ) is very short 2)Vagina , anus are very near to urethra(urinary opening) Why males are not much prone 1)Long urethra so bacteria take a while to travel up and cause infection 2)Pre-cum drops that lubricate the urethra and flush some of bacteria Why Urinary Opening Is Prone To Get Infection: It is important to know that there is difference in lining of vagina and urethra(urinary opening) 1)Vagina is lined by cells that are more resistant to bacteria 2)Vagina has its own "good" bacteris that do not normally allow "bad" bacteria to grow 3)Vagina most of the time is producing secretions that flush any toxins But urinary opening lining is of cells easily prone to infection No secretions are produced/passed except urine in females HoneyMoon Cystitis or urinary bladder infection commonly occurs in women as a result of sexual intercourse(especially after first intercourse) During sex, bacteria can be spread from the vagina and also anus to the urethral opening. any form of vaginal penetration(penis , finger) can cause rubbing or irritation to the urethra (which is adjacent to the interior of the vagina). If a woman's lubrication is inadequate(as if in anxiety of first intercourse lubrication is less) the vaginal skin can become irritated or suffer from small tears, encouraging bacteria to grow in vagina bacteria in the vagina may then be transferred to the urethral opening. Fluids at the discharge of male and female partner and also the inward outward movement of penis during intercourse act as a carrier to transfer bacteria to urinary opening. Risk Factor: 1) Increased Frequency of sexual intercourse in first few days and that too vigorous sex activity 2) Poor vaginal lubrication during coitus predisposes to UTI. This may be due to inadequate or inexpert foreplay or anxiety. Lack of male partner expertise may also be relevant. 3)Use of a diaphragm(contraception in females) and spermicide(sperm killing) sponges , either together or separately, increases the risk of UTI. Spermicide coated condoms are also a risk Patient Complains: Mostly buring at urine passage , pain in kidney or bladder area , dark and increased urine ,nausea sometimes though frequency of urine is decreased, foul smelly urine or blood in urine. Mostly fever and lethargy is absent Tests Done: Simple urine dipstick test for blood, protein and other substances is done and then clean mid stream urine is taken for microscopy and culture, type of bacteria is isolated and approprite antibiotic given. Prevention: 1)Females are advised to drink atleast 10 glasses of water in these days and any type of fluid intake is encouraged 2)Never hold on urine 3)Better too empty urinary bladder before intercourse and after too. 4)Maintain good hygienic measures 5)Washing of urinary area should and must be front to back and not back to front as even bacteria from anal region can be transferred. 6)double-emptying: means bladder is emptied before sleep then after 15min again urinate females with one episode of urinary infection are given antibiotics for a week and are prone prone to get it next time if the above mentioned preventions are not followed…
