This positive or negative signs refers to the presence or absence of another blood group system antigen called Rh factor. What does blood group mean? Before telling u more about blood group I want to tell u about antigens these r the substances causes the production of antibodies in the blood and antibodies have function to fight against foreign toxic or harmful substances in the body to protect our body against germs and toxins etc.. A person having blood group A have antigen A on the surface of RBC. A person having blood group B have antigen B on the surface of RBC. A person having blood group AB have both antigens A and B on the surface of RBC. A person having blood group O have neither antigen A nor antigen B on the surface of RBC. Most Important Blood Information. blood group AB+ is called universal accepter bcoz it can receive blood from all blood groups. blood group AB- can be transfused to O- ,B-,A-,A+. blood group A+ can be transfused to O-,O+,A-,A+. blood group A- can be transfused to O-, A-. blood group B+ can be transfused to O-,O+,B-,B+ blood group B- can be transfused to O-, B-. blood group O+ can be transfused to O-,O+. blood group O- is called universal donor bcoz it can donate blood to all blood groups. What happen if a recipient blood group is unmatched to the donor blood group? Remember Blood group A can produce anti-B anti bodies if any other blood group is transferred in it which does not cross matched to it. Blood group B can produce anti-A antibodies if any other blood group is transferred in it which does not cross matched to it. Blood group AB can neither produce anti-A nor ant-B antibodies if any other blood group is transferred in it which does not cross matched to it. And blood group O can produce both anti-A and anti-B antibodies if any other blood group is transferred in it which does not cross matched to it. And these recipient antibodies(which produced in the blood as unmatched blood is added in the blood) will fight with the antigens of donors blood group and cause the serious clumping of Red blood cells in the blood and these red blood cells will be eventually unable to pass through the fine capillaries(vessels through which blood regulate in the body to different body parts).
